Project Overview:
To meet
the growth and water demands in the Town of Gilbert and City of Chandler,
this project consists of a pipeline that will deliver 48 million gallons per day (mgd) of raw water from
the Central Arizona Project (CAP) Canal, located East of Schnepf Road in Pinal County, to the new
joint Gilbert/Chandler South Water Treatment Plant (SWTP), located at Recker
Road and Ocotillo Road in Gilbert.
This will be accomplished by
constructing 13 miles of waterline along the alignment in the
aerial photo on the "Project Site" page.
Construction Activity and
Traffic Restrictions (See Project Schedule Page):
If you'd like to be notified when construction activity is updated on this
website, please send your e-mail address to

The section of waterline on
Ocotillo Road, from Power Road to Hawes Road, is complete.
Construction is also complete on Hawes Road between Ocotillo and Queen Creek
Road; on Queen Creek Road up to Meridian Road; and on Pima Road from
Meridian Road to Kenworthy Road.
|
 |
There are currently two crews working; the first crew is working just
east of Schnepf Road off the roadway, heading south toward Ocotillo, and
will then head east toward the CAP Canal.
|
 |
The
second crew is
completing installation of waterline on the north side of Pima
Road, between Kenworthy Road and Coyote Road. The construction is
moving east along Pima Road, and nearing Coyote Road where the waterline
will be installed in the middle of Pima Road. This work will begin the
week of July 7th and take approximately 4-5 weeks to complete so that Pima
Road can once again be available for regular travel.
We ask your patience and
cooperation during construction in this narrow corridor so that crews can
work quickly to complete this area. For properties with direct access
to north/south streets, please use Airport Dr, Joy Dr, or Ranch Rd to access
Schnepf or Kenworthy. For properties whose only access is Pima Road,
please travel away from the construction activity when driving to or from
your property. Crews will work quickly to cross Pima Road driveways
and ensure driveways are available for use during evening hours.
If you reside in this
area and have special needs, please feel free to contact us.

The
South Water Treatment Plant is also in the process of being designed and
built to be ready to receive and treat the raw water from this project.
